Changing Systems
One of Casa Primary Goals

When Latinas seek traditional services at critical points in their lives--the times when they need services the most--they are often confronted by barriers that make the services inaccessible to them. Casa de Esperanza seeks to eliminate these walls. This area of our work, Systems Change, is dedicated to enhancing access for Latinas.

We see possibilities in the broadest scope and are willing to work with any organization that touches the lives of battered Latinas and wants to improve services for them, such as
the healthcare system
family court
the welfare system
corrections
the criminal justice system
domestic violence organizations
social work agencies.

Casa de Esperanza offers support, training, consultation, dialogue, facilitation of groups, tools--anything to increase understanding of Latino cultures and the dynamics of domestic violence. Our vision is to work with as many partners as possible, establishing alliances that will result in open doors for Latinas--and most likely for other people of color, as well.

Systems Change is critical in improving the quality of life for Latino families and in the expansion of Casa de Esperanza's work. When an organization is able to relate well to Latino communities--has the tools and understandings--there is direct benefit for Latinas. They gain access that was formerly unavailable to them, as well as new sources of support, resources, and relationships. Systems Change is another means for Casa de Esperanza to increase social capital for Latinas and put our work in the hands of more and more people.
