Haz la Diferencia
|
|
A first-of-its-kind Spanish language short film by and for Latino youth.
ˇUbicate!TM, Haz la Diferencia (Find Yourself, Make a Difference) centers on a high school classroom where students are discussing healthy and unhealthy relationships. Their responses take the film into four separate stories; each presents a different issue, such as teen dating violence, gender roles, communication, and peer pressure. ˇUbicate! is filled with colorful storytelling, mixed with local and national Latin/Hip-hop music, that gets teens to watch, address issues, and help make a difference.
ˇUbicate! sets the stage for straightforward discussion. A valuable tool for peer educators, teachers, youth workers, churches, and domestic violence organizations. The companion Facilitator's Guide provides ideas for activities and discussion.

Stepping into Latino Realities
This training video is an excellent tool for groups interested in learning more about communicating and working with Latino individuals and families. Divided into eight vignettes, the film highlights situations that service providers may encounter while working with Latino clients and their families. Each scene provides insight that helps viewers understand Latino cultures and prevent communication breakdowns. With its Facilitator's Guide, Stepping Into Latino Realities is ideal for launching group discussions.
Casa de Esperanza designed this video as a companion piece to the manual, Latino Families and Domestic Violence: A Guide for Systems and Organizations Committed to Serving Latino Communities. Written primarily for service providers working with Latino clients, both products are informative for anyone seeking to relate effectively with Latino communities and understand issues facing battered Latinas and their children.

My Girlfriend Did It
This documentary explores the dynamics of violence in lesbian relationships and examines the impact of oppression when addressing this abuse. Women who have experienced battering by their partners share their stories through testimonials and reenactments. They describe the unique challenges they faced—their fear of “coming out,” their difficulty in finding help and resources, and the reactions of family and friends. Created in 1995, this powerful video, which highlights the women’s resilience and strength, is still highly relevant and useful for organizations and individuals working to address this sensitive and complex issue.”
